Benchmark

The 2023 Benchmark Challenge for Energy Optimal Control of Connected EVs

Goal

The 2023 Benchmark Challenge for Energy Optimal Control of Connected EVs will be held during the period of conference. New traffic scenes with various characteristics will be provided for challengers to maximize the energy saving potential of EVs. The purpose of this benchmark problem is to provide a platform for the students and researchers to challenge the issues of advanced energy optimization control for connected electric vehicles. The benchmark organizer will provide traffic scene models and electric vehicle models. Participants will provide energy optimization algorithms to participate in the competition. For more details, please see the flyer of Call for Challenge [pdf].

Procedure

1.   Please download the benchmark problem description file [pdf] which details optimization problems, simulation models, parameter files, and evaluation rules.

2.  Please contact to Dr. Nan Xu by email: CVCI_Challenge@163.com (Alternate: CVCI_Challenge@outlook.com) for register and requesting the download link of simulator. To register, please send back the  Challenge_Register.xlsx with your information. The personal information in this file is only used for statistics and we promise that it will not be shown to others.

3.  Challengers who are recognized will have their models and data sent by a challenge team member. Please use this model and data only for the benchmark challenge and do not share with others.

4.  Challengers are requested to submit their program with final submission. Challenging results will be evaluated by organizers with real-time generated traffic scenarios.

Notice

1.   Five new traffic scenes with different average speed ranging from 20.39 km/h to 45.63 km/h are provided in the 2023 challenge. The various traffic scenes aim at reflecting different level of traffic jam as well as the discrepancy between urban and suburban roads. Besides it should be noted that the algorithm supplied by challenger must suit for all the scenes.

2.   A special session will be organized for this benchmark challenging. The challengers are expected to register the conference and submit position paper or regular paper to represent the energy optimization algorithms in detail.

3.   Gold, silver and bronze awards will be set up for the challenge. According to the model simulation results conducted by the organizer, the challenger with outstanding performance in the benchmark challenge will be awarded.

4.   It is possible for the challenger to apply for the Author Award with a full paper submission. The detail information, please find it in Author Award part.

Schedule

Open the problem with data: February 1st, 2023

Submission of paper and challenging results: July 1st, 2023    July 15th, 2023

Final results submission: September 1st, 2023
